The power of positive thinking is amazing! Our circumstances shouldn’t determine our attitude. Instead, we need to develop a positive attitude, despite the circumstances, in order to change our circumstances for the better.
Many, many years ago, I was engaged to be married and weeks before the wedding my fiance’ called things off. I was DEVASTATED!! I was upset, confused, depressed . . . heartbroken. One day I was talking to a very wise woman and she shared something with me that changed my life. She told me that I had two choices on how to deal with the situation – in a negative way or a positive way. I could be angry, upset, depressed, sad and wallow in self-pity OR I could be thankful that the jerk (not her words, but mine) had called things off when he did rather than the day of the wedding or a year into the marriage. I could see the situation as a blessing – better to be rid of him than stuck with him. From there on, my entire outlook changed!! In fact, it baffled the young man who dumped me, because he couldn’t understand why I was walking around with a smile on my face. Needless to say, two months later I met a wonderful man and we were married within a year. I haven’t been happier and I haven’t looked back!
Thoughts to remember –
And we know that in all things God works for the goodof those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
Life is in the inside. It is not just what you have.
This is tricky – life is alive too. Many times it shows us things we don’t like so that we may react in a way that we don’t want to.
But slowly and with slight changes , your life becomes what is inside your heart.
Congratulations on your marriage.
