At the beginning of each new year, we all begin to think about what it is that we need/want/desire to do. Maybe you’ve been doing more than just thinking about it, maybe you’ve begun to talk about it, even dreamt about what life would be like once “it” is done. But have you begun to move on it?
Just recently I discovered a scripture in Ecclesiastes that I am focusing on to take more intentional action in my life this year. When I begin to overanalyze (which I’m prone to do) or become stuck in overwhelm, I remind myself of this:
“For a dream comes through much activity, and a fool’s voice is known by his many words.” (Ecclesiastes 5:3 NKJV)
What is it that you need to begin some activity around? It’s not enough to just speak about it, you have to get busy taking action. In a previous CoCo Cafe TV video, I was talking about Moving Forward and one of the key points that I brought out was that clarity come from action. Sometimes when you are unclear on what to do, the best thing you can do is just “do something.” Getting lost in the overwhelm of your mind doesn’t help you to get your dreams materialized.
So what is it that you have been dreaming about? In what areas have you set some goals that you need to begin to generate some activity around?
Is it your WORK?
Is it time to change jobs? Apply for a promotion? Launch your own business? Upgrade your current business?
Is it your HEALTH?
Do you need to exercise more? Create a better eating plan? Get more rest? Go in for a check up?
Is it your FINANCES?
Do you need to start a savings or retirement plan? Update or upgrade your insurance? Make and stick to a budget? Stop using credit cards and spending money to impress others? Ask for a raise or get more & better clients?
Is it your RELATIONSHIPS?
Is it time to start spending more time with the people you love? Have you been harboring unforgiveness in your heart that you need to release? Do you need to release some past hurts? Is there a difficult conversation that needs to be had so you can move forward? Do you need to reach out to someone and let them know how much you care?
Is it your SPIRITUAL LIFE?
Is it time to find and connect with a church home that feeds you the way you need to be fed? Is it time to trust God at a deeper level? Do you need to spend more time in prayer? Commit to a bible study or daily reading plan? Do you need to begin a prayer journal?
What ever it is that you have been dreaming or thinking about, it is now time to take action! The new year isn’t about just making resolutions and setting goals or creating vision boards (which are all great things). But most importantly, it’s about making a decision to make changes that are going to move you toward a happier, healthier and more fulfilling life. Make a commitment to yourself that you are going to focus on a few areas and take action!
What is it is that you have been “dreaming” about that you are now going to take action on? What has prevented you from taking action in the past? What are you going to adjust within yourself so that you can accomplish the goals that you have set?
What a beautiful message and I love the quote! To realize our dreams we must be doing, being, and feeling to get to our desired outcome. Talking…not so much.
Nice to meet you via UBC!
Peggy
Hi Peggy, thanks for stopping by. YES, less talking, more doing!
Great reminder! So often our dreams come to nothing because we didn’t have the courage and willpower to take a step and act. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
Erin, you bring up a key point – courage! It takes a lot of courage to step out and go after what you really want to do!
Hi
Another great message from your great blog.
I am applying what you are saying since the 1st of January and I have seen, already, some incredible results.
I say to anyone who reads this post: Believe and Succeed.
I am still working on my Believe but I am getting there
Thank you
Hi Liliana,
Thanks for visiting and for the kind comments. Belief, which is all about mindset, is key! We have to first believe that we can do it/have it before we will take action.
I’m thinking of switching to low carb eating because every diet I’ve tried just never works for the long haul. It’s time to switch my eating habits (and get away from the dieting) to become a healthier me!
That’s what I am aiming for this year…. wish me luck!
Bonnie, Wishing you all the best! Keep at it, one day at a time, and you will get there! Thinking about changing your eating habits as a function of a lifestyle change rather than a diet will definitely help you have good success. keep me posted!
Yes! This is such an apropos topic for this time of year. I tend to do too much, but this is great to share with my clients. I find people either need to begin doing, or cut back. Beautiful blog!
Hi Candess, thanks for visiting. Glad you found the post useful. I was always one who was trying to do too much (in my own head), but not really doing enough.
Hi Ilesha Graham, I never visit on your Blog before today & now when Today I visited, than I’m feeling good with this inspiration post which tells many thinks !!!
