A couple of months ago I was sitting in Sunday morning service listening to my Pastor’s message. He was illustrating a particular point by sharing the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. As I thought about that familiar story a larger truth bubbled up into my spirit – Dead Means Nothing to God!
On the outset, you might just think “Duh!” because there are plenty of examples of God raising people from the dead in both the New & Old Testament. If you have spent any time in church or bible study, you are quite familiar with the truth that the power of God is a life giving power. In fact, that’s a foundational truth of the Christian faith – that Jesus himself was raised from the dead.
But on that particular Sunday morning, a deeper and more personal reality resonated within my spirit. God has the power to bring back to life that which we have considered dead. Sisters, please really think about this and get it down into your spirit. If God has the power to raise to life a personal who is physically dead, how much more is he able to bring back to life your “dead” marriage, your “dead” relationships, your “dead” finances, your “dead” end job, your “dead” dreams, your “dead” (fill in the blank).
As that revelation bounced around in my head and settled in my heart, I couldn’t help but to just cry tears of amazement at our heavenly Father. I sat in that church pew next to my husband and thought about how just twelve months previous I knew for sure that my own marriage was dead. We were in such a low place that I didn’t think it was possible for our marriage to have life, let alone the abundant life that Jesus had promised. But here we were a year later better, stronger, and happier than we had ever been. Oh, to Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we could ever ask, think or imagine!
I don’t know what you may currently be in mourning about – what life circumstance has appeared to be dead to you. But I do know that DEAD MEANS NOTHING TO GOD. I want to encourage you to commit every aspect of your life to Him and trust Him to resurrect everything that you thought was buried and gone. “Let us hold on firmly to the hope we profess, because we can trust God to keep His Promise” (Hebrews 10:23 GNT)
